Our payment, refund and cancellation, and seminar policies.

These terms apply to all bookings with London Self Defence Academy, including corporate training, school courses, group sessions, seminars and individual self defence classes. They are made up of three parts:
To secure a booking with London Self Defence Academy, a 50% deposit or full payment is required at the time of booking.
This payment acts as a reservation fee and confirms your agreed dates and times for all training sessions, including corporate, school and individual self defence courses.
Where applicable, the remaining balance must be paid in line with the agreed payment arrangements.
Alternative payment terms may be agreed in writing between London Self Defence Academy and the client before the booking.
All bookings are subject to confirmation once the agreed deposit or full payment has been received.
At London Self Defence Academy, we aim to provide a professional and reliable service to all our clients. This refund and cancellation policy applies to all bookings, including corporate training, school courses, group sessions and individual self defence classes.
A 50% deposit or full payment is required to secure your booking and reserve the agreed dates and times.
Deposits are used to secure instructor availability, allocate resources and reserve the requested training dates.
If you book as an individual (not on behalf of a business, school or other organisation) and you book online, by email or by phone, or anywhere other than our premises, you normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day you book, without giving a reason. This is known as the cooling-off period.
To cancel, email contact@londonselfdefenceacademy.com with your name and booking details.
If you wish to cancel a confirmed booking after any cooling-off period has ended, you must give written notice by email.
We understand that circumstances can change. You may ask to reschedule a confirmed booking, subject to instructor availability and mutual agreement.
Where possible, we will try to accommodate changes without additional charges, provided sufficient notice is given.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a confirmed session, you will be offered either:
For courses involving multiple sessions, refunds will be assessed according to the sessions already delivered, the preparation undertaken and any reasonable costs incurred.
Once a course has started, refunds will not normally be given for sessions already delivered.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances, including illness, emergencies or events beyond your control, may affect attendance.
Each situation will be considered individually, and we will try to find a reasonable solution wherever possible.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights you may have under UK consumer protection law.

London Self Defence Academy reserves the right to review this policy from time to time.
London Self Defence Academy is committed to delivering professional, safe and practical self defence seminars. The safety and wellbeing of all participants, instructors and staff are a priority.
This policy applies to all seminars, workshops and training events organised or delivered by London Self Defence Academy.
All seminar bookings must be confirmed in advance.
Full payment or the agreed deposit must be received to secure the booking and reserve the seminar date and time.
By completing a booking and making payment, participants or the booking organiser confirm that they have read and agree to the terms of this policy.
All seminar bookings are confirmed once payment has been received.
Because seminars take place on a specific date, the 14-day cooling-off period for bookings made online or by phone does not apply to seminar bookings.
Once a seminar booking has been confirmed and paid for, payments are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law or where London Self Defence Academy is unable to deliver the seminar and cannot agree an alternative arrangement with you. This does not affect your other legal rights.
Requests to transfer a booking to another date will be considered at the discretion of London Self Defence Academy, subject to availability.
If we need to cancel or postpone a seminar, participants will be offered an alternative date or an appropriate refund.
London Self Defence Academy takes participant safety seriously. A suitable risk assessment will be carried out before each seminar, taking into account:
Appropriate control measures will be put in place to minimise the risks identified.
The seminar organiser or venue representative may also be asked to provide relevant information about the premises, facilities and any known hazards.
All participants are expected to be in suitable physical and mental health to take part in the seminar activities.
Self defence training may involve physical exercise, movement, controlled contact, balance exercises and practical defensive techniques.
Participants must tell London Self Defence Academy in advance about any medical condition, injury, disability, physical limitation or other health issue that could affect their ability to take part safely.
If you have a medical condition or are unsure whether you are fit to take part, please get advice from a qualified healthcare professional before attending.
Any relevant health information must be provided before the seminar so that appropriate precautions, reasonable adjustments or alternative activities can be considered. We will only use this information to keep you safe during training. See our privacy policy for how we look after it.
London Self Defence Academy reserves the right to restrict or decline participation in particular activities where there is a reasonable safety concern.
All participants must:
Participants must not behave in an aggressive, reckless or inappropriate way during training.
All training activities will be supervised by London Self Defence Academy instructors.
Instructors reserve the right to change, adapt, pause or stop any activity if they believe it presents an unacceptable risk to a participant or others.
Participants may be asked to sit out an exercise or leave the seminar if they do not follow safety instructions or behave in a way that compromises the safety of others.
In the event of an accident, injury or medical emergency, appropriate action will be taken in line with the circumstances and the emergency procedures available.
Where necessary, emergency medical assistance will be called.
All participants must cooperate with instructors and follow emergency instructions.
Photographs and video may be taken during seminars for promotional, educational or marketing purposes.
Participants will be told in advance where recording is planned. Consent will be obtained before any identifiable images or footage are used for promotional purposes.
For sessions involving anyone under 18, including school sessions, consent will be obtained from the school or from a parent or guardian before any images or footage of a child are used. We will not use identifiable images of children without that consent.
If you don’t wish to be photographed or recorded, please tell the organiser before the seminar.
Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings and valuables throughout the seminar.
London Self Defence Academy accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
By booking, paying for or taking part in a London Self Defence Academy seminar, participants and booking organisers confirm that they have read and understood this policy and agree to follow it.
